2008 Community Based Small Grants Program

Rolling Application Deadline

Applications accepted through August 30, 2008

Grant Range: $500 - $5,000

East Baltimore Development Inc. is proud to launch the second round of the EBDI Community Based Small Grants Program. This program, which began in 2007, awards grants ranging from $500-$5,000 to community organizations and groups that are exerting a positive influence on East Baltimore, in concert with EBDI’s mission of positively transforming the neighborhood.  The Program is made possible by the generous support of the Annie E. Casey Foundation.

EBDI is proud to work along other community based organizations and community associations that are exerting a positive influence on East Baltimore – either through human and social services or through thoughtful, strategic planning for the future. EBDI seeks to support their work through the Community Based Small Grants Program by providing grant money that can be leveraged to aid their efforts in the community

For a project to be awarded a grant,

it should match the Program Priorities listed below

  • Neighborhood Involvement: Projects should allow and foster active participation by neighborhood residents.
  • Impact: Projects should positively impact the neighborhood in keeping with EBDI’s mission of renewing and enhancing East Baltimore.
  •  Investment: Projects should promote community investment in two ways – both by encouraging increasing number of residents engaged and invested in their community, and by ultimately enriching the community
  • Capacity: Project implementation should reflect the neighborhood’s ability to implement scope of work and/or increase residents’ confidence to do other projects
  • Partners: To the degree practicable, projects should promote partnerships between residents, community organizations, and across neighborhood boundaries.
